Workshop Summary
Darrington Academy provides students the opportunity to attend various character building workshops that assist them in identifying the key areas of their personality that allow them to make decisions which are ultimately not in their own best interest. Once these areas are identified, the students then begin working to establish the behaviors necessary to counter these weaknesses. As the students practice the use of this new decision making process, they come to understand the benefit of making decisions based on long term goals rather than short term wants or misperceived needs.
A part of the cost for tuition, these workshops are also made available to parents in various cities throughout the U.S. The adult workshops help parents identify areas of their lives which may have contributed to the unwanted behaviors their student exhibited in the home. The workshops also help parents to develop similar communication skills to those being learned by their students. This common foundation is necessary for families to effectively identify specific areas for improvement. Along with the student and parent workshops Darrington students and their families also have access to a number of Parent/Child workshops which assist the family in developing the tools and skills necessary to build and maintain a working and productive relationship.

Students and their families who complete the program are able to clearly identify their own personal goals and create a plan for attaining them which accounts for their own personal strengths and weaknesses. Students will have the ability to clearly communicate with parents and others in order to identify boundaries and expectations. Graduates will also understand that privilege comes with responsibility and the importance of personal accountability.
